Reading habit: Is it still relevant in modern world<\/h2>\n

\"Learning\"\u201cLearning is a spontaneous and most natural activity of brain.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This phenomenon can easily be observed among all living creatures. A newly born child begins to react with the outer surroundings, as soon as he comes in the world. Recognizing his mother by her smell and voice is actually learning. In a short course of time he identifies his dad, grandpa’ and grandma’ who rove around him.<\/p>\n

As the child grows he picks up many habits of the family. Bowing before the pictures and idols of \"Book\"gods, as his parents and grandparents do and many such examples of learning, occur only because they happen before him daily. Thus learning starts with the birth of the child. The only condition is that the child must have access to what has to be learnt.<\/p>\n

Reading is one and same among other forms of learning. In spite of all the scientific developments in the field of learning process, manual reading<\/i><\/b> still has an important place in acquiring knowledge.<\/p>\n

\n

Bacon lays down the importance of reading in his most famous essay “Of Studies”.\u00a0 In his words:<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cReading maketh a full man; conference a ready man; and writing an exact man. Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested<\/i>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\"Reading\"<\/p>\n

Reading not only introduces various ideas, situations, facts etc. but it acquaints the child with new words that add to its thinking power. It has to be kept in mind that a person thinks only in words and more the words, more the thinking capacity he \/she has.<\/p>\n

With the advent of new technologies like internet, mobiles etc., there is a possibility of augmenting traditional ways with new and creative mechanisms. Both the complementing ways will go hand in hand to develop this important skill in children.<\/p>\n

Now, how can such a useful habit of reading be started and developed in a child?<\/p>\n
